Tuition Refund Policy

Students who make an enrollment change (dropping or withdrawing) may be eligible for a tuition refund based on the school’s published refund schedule, linked below. The schedules are time-based, with the percentage of tuition refunded decreasing as the term advances. In limited circumstances, the University will consider an appeal.

  • Full-time students are charged full-time tuition rates. Generally, adding or dropping courses does not alter this charge. If a student withdraws from the University, a refund will depend on the timing of the withdrawal.
  • Part-time students may be eligible for a tuition adjustment when dropping or withdrawing from courses.

Schools and Programs

Third Party Payers

Sponsors/employers who pay tuition will be refunded if a course is dropped or canceled. The employer will only be refunded the amount of the tuition minus any penalties.

JHU Employee Tuition Remission Benefit

JHU employees who used their tuition remission benefits and dropped a course will have the remission benefit 100% reversed. Tuition remission does not cover tuition costs from courses not completed. Please see the JHU Human Resources website for more information.
